Spatial Analysis and Decision Assistance SADA

Spatial Analysis and Decision Assistance (SADA) Workshop

Spatial Analysis and Decision Assistance (SADA) Workshop

Hosted by Engineering Field Activity Northeast

August 2-3, 2005

Workshop Overview

Engineering Field Activity Northeast (EFANE), in conjunction with NAVFAC Atlantic, is hosting an informational and training workshop on Spatial Analysis and Decision Assistance software.  This workshop will achieve the following objectives:

  • Provide an overview of how the SADA software can serve as a complementary data analysis tool to data exported from NIRIS.
  • Provide an overview of what SADA software is, its capabilities to assess data, and how it can assist with risk management decisions at a site.
  • Provide a demonstration of SADA software capabilities utilizing data from two actual Navy Installation Restoration (IR) Sites.

What is SADA?

Spatial Analysis and Decision Assistance (SADA) is free software that incorporates tools from environmental assessment fields into an effective problem-solving environment. These tools include integrated modules for visualization, geospatial analysis, statistical analysis, human health risk assessment, ecological risk assessment, cost/benefit analysis, sampling design, and decision analysis. The capabilities of SADA can be used independently or collectively to address site specific concerns when characterizing a contaminated site, assessing risk, determining the location of future samples, and when designing remedial action.  Additional information on SADA software and its capabilities can be found at http://www.sadaproject.net/. Topics that will be discussed during the workshop regarding SADA’s capabilities are as follows:

- SADA Basics                                     - Human Health Risk Assessment

- Ecological Risk Assessment            - Geospatial Methods

- Customizing Analysis               - Conducting Decision Analysis       - Developing Sampling Designs         - Working in Three Dimensions

Who Should Attend?

The workshop is intended for Navy Remedial Project Managers, Remedial Technical Managers, and risk assessors.  However, Navy contractors that complete work on IR sites are invited to attend to learn about the software and its capabilities.  It should be noted that Navy employees will receive first priority in registering for the workshop.
